DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Tigers have officially announced their one-year deal with Magglio Ordonez.
The Tigers did not announce contract terms Friday. A person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press on Thursday that Ordonez and the Tigers agreed to a $10 million, one-year contract. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal hadn’t been announced.
Detroit declined Ordonez’s $15 million option in October, but will now have the six-time All-Star back after he broke his right ankle in July. Ordonez hit .303 with 12 home runs in 84 games last season.
The Tigers have been busy this offseason, adding catcher Victor Martinez and reliever Joaquin Benoit.
