HOUSTON (AP) - Right back Hunter Freeman has signed a multiyear contract with the Houston Dynamo after the Major League Soccer team acquired his rights from the New York Red Bulls.

Houston sent allocation money to the Red Bulls and also received New York’s third-round draft pick in 2012 as part of Friday’s trade.

A Texas native, Freeman was both in Tyler and grew up in Allen. Freeman, who turns 26 next month, played for Colorado, New York and Toronto before spending the last two years at IK Start in Norway.

He was with the U.S. under-20 team at the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship and the under-23 team in qualifying for the 2008 Olympics.
