Frank Sinatra, born in 1915, would have been 95 this year on his birthday, Dec. 12. There’s not much more to be written about Hoboken’s favorite son, except that his millions of fans still marvel at his impeccable choice of songs and his interpretations of pop standards will always be in our thoughts.

Even veteran performers around today are amazed at the staying power of songs sung by Sinatra. Tony Bennett, Harry Prime, Jerry Vale, Michael Buble, Michael Feinstein and Herb Jeffries to name a few “old-timers” celebrate Sinatra alongside those in the rock ’n’ roll genre like U-2’s Bono and triple-threat newcomer, singer/songwriter/ guitarist Billy Jon Coogan. On the distaff side, Diane Krall, Peggy King, Jane Monheit, Jill Corey and the charming and gracious Hannah Flanagan respect “Old Blue Eyes” for knowing how to pick the standards he sang.

Happy belated birthday to Frank Sinatra, a man who was born to entertain and boy, did he ever.
