PITTSBURGH (AP) - New York Rangers forward Ryan Callahan broke his left hand on Wednesday night while blocking a shot by Pittsburgh Penguins’ defenseman Kris Letang and is expected to be out for six weeks.
Callahan was struck early in the first period of the Rangers’ 4-1 victory. Callahan is second on the team with 23 points, including 10 goals, and is first with 128 hits. He scored two goals on Sunday in the Rangers’ 7-0 home victory over the Washington Capitals.
New York was just getting healthier, as captain Chris Drury returned to the lineup Wednesday after missing 31 of the Rangers’ first 32 games because of a broken finger.
