“Danny Boyle has given his strongest indication yet that a sequel to his cult film about Edinburgh drug addicts, ’Trainspotting,’ may yet find its way to the big screen.
“Speaking to cinematical.com, Boyle said a follow-up to his 1996 movie, which starred Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle and Jonny Lee Miller, ’will happen,’ though he declined to set out a timeline. The sequel would be based loosely on ’Trainspotting’ author Irvine Welsh’s novel ’Porno.’ … ’It will happen, I think,’ said Boyle. ’I mean, we’ll approach them all again about it, but it will depend on what place they’re all at. We have a very strong idea that it would be a wonderful thing to do again when they have aged clearly into a midlife crisis’ …
“The Oscar-winning filmmaker said the original cast did not look old enough to play aging versions of Renton, Sick Boy and Begbie, despite Welsh’s novel being set only a decade after ’Trainspotting.’ ’Porno’ sees the characters, along with the hapless Spud, becoming embroiled in a scheme to raise cash by making a pornographic movie. One of the major obstacles to a full cast reunion is McGregor, who fell out with Boyle after the director replaced him with Leonardo DiCaprio in 2000’s ’The Beach.’ “

“Are allegations of sexual misconduct involving two different women in Stockholm turning Julian Assange into a new kind of celebrity pin-up? Is the WikiLeaks founder now a civilian porn star? His image has certainly changed as a result of the Swedish rape charges leading to his arrest in London. Jon Stewart’s parody coverage of the story has relentlessly emphasized not his cable-stealing skulduggery but - his blondness.
“The absurd focus on Assange’s hair and his problems with women … is instructive. Oddly enough, I’m reminded of the moment in the last election cycle when Obama was being hailed as a “pimp” by adoring Facebook supporters.

“There are a good number of reasons I don’t want my kids to grow up and go to Columbia, but Professor David Epstein tops the list. I wonder if any liberals will find it just a bit disconcerting that a guy who would have an incestuous relationship with his own daughter is a prominent professor at an American university. … ’He had relations with his daughter, now 24, from 2006 through 2009, the complaint said. Epstein was released on his own recognizance after appearing before a judge on Thursday.’

He’s a big fan of President Obama, and back in September of 2009 he was thrilled to finally have an adult conversation about policy in America.
