KANSAS CITY, MO. (AP) - Quarterback Matt Cassel is back practicing with the Kansas City Chiefs, one week after undergoing an appendectomy that kept him out of Sunday’s loss at San Diego.
The Chiefs have not yet announced whether Cassel will play Sunday against St. Louis.
Cassel worked in non-contract drills Wednesday, handing off to running backs Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones, and completing long passes to receivers Terrence Cooper and Verran Tucker.
Cassel has completed 59.9 percent of his passes this season with 23 touchdowns and only four interceptions. With Cassel out, the Chiefs offense struggled with quarterback Brodie Croyle in a 31-0 loss to the Chargers.
