BEREA, OHIO (AP) - Browns rookie quarterback Colt McCoy will take snaps with Cleveland’s starting offense in practice and could start Sunday in Cincinnati.
Coach Eric Mangini wants to see how McCoy looks Wednesday before naming him or Jake Delhomme as his starter against the Bengals (2-11). Mangini said he will announce his choice on Thursday.
McCoy hasn’t played in three weeks since sustaining a high ankle sprain on Nov. 21 in Jacksonville. McCoy is 2-3 as a starter and was Cleveland’s No. 3 quarterback last week in Buffalo. Delhomme made his third straight start after coming back from a severe ankle injury.
Delhomme passed for just 86 yards in Sunday’s loss to the Bills.
