MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings were already falling apart under the weight of conflict and injuries this season _ and then the roof of their domed stadium literally collapsed.
The cave-in from a weekend snowstorm seems a fitting metaphor for a team with a 41-year-old wounded quarterback in Brett Favre, an interim head coach after the firing of Brad Childress and a losing record in a season that started with Super Bowl aspirations.
The Vikings have won both of their games since the coaching change to Leslie Frazier, who says his players are a resilient, professional group that knows how to “handle adversity.”
At the moment, the Vikings are homeless. The Metrodome is under repairs, with the team hoping to be back in time for next Monday night’s game against Chicago. Otherwise, it may be another “home” game outside Minnesota.
