ALLEN PARK, MICH. (AP) - Drew Stanton will start at quarterback for the Detroit Lions against Chicago this weekend.
Detroit is down to its No. 3 quarterback after Matthew Stafford hurt his right shoulder and Shaun Hill injured a finger on his throwing hand. Coach Jim Schwartz says Stanton will start and be backed up by Zac Robinson.
Stafford, the No. 1 pick in the 2009 draft, has hurt his throwing shoulder twice this season, most recently Nov. 7 against the New York Jets. Hill has been starting in Stafford’s place, but after playing the whole game last Thursday against New England, he appeared to have a splint on his right index finger at practice Tuesday.
Stanton has played in three games this season, completing 20 of 36 passes for 233 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
