Carrie Underwood has a chance to add to her Grammy trophy case: She’s up for best female country vocal performance.

Her nomination was announced Wednesday night during the Grammys’ live nominations special on CBS.

Underwood was nominated for her inspirational hit “Temporary Home.” Also nominated was Jewel for “Satisfied”; Miranda Lambert for “The House That Built Me”; LeAnn Rimes for “Swingin’”; and Gretchen Wilson for “I’d Love To Be Your Last.”

The Recording Academy is announcing a handful of its 109 categories during the prime-time special.

The Grammys will be awarded Sunday, Feb. 13, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS.

Eminem picked up his second Grammy nomination Wednesday night _ for album of the year.

“Recovery” is the best-selling album of 2010 and marked a major comeback for the rapper.

Also nominated was Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” _ the second best-selling album of the year. Lady Gaga was nominated for the second time in a row for “The Fame Monster”; it was the sequel to her first CD, “The Fame,” which was nominated earlier this year.

Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” was also recognized, along with Arcade Fire’s “The Suburbs.”

The announcement was made as part of the Grammys’ hourlong live nominations special on CBS from Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

The Grammys will be awarded Sunday, Feb. 13, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS.
