BEREA, OHIO (AP) - Browns rookie quarterback Colt McCoy has not yet been medically cleared to practice, leaving Jake Delhomme as Cleveland’s starter for now.

McCoy sustained a high ankle sprain on Nov. 21 at Jacksonville and sat out last Sunday’s game against Carolina. Delhomme, who was inactive for eight games with a similar injury, started against his former team as the Browns (4-7) nipped the Panthers 24-23.

Browns coach Eric Mangini said McCoy “has made a pretty good jump” in the past week and has not ruled him out for this week’s game at Miami (6-5). Delhomme will get the bulk of snaps with Cleveland’s starting offense in practice.

McCoy was impressive in five starts filling in for Delhomme and Seneca Wallace, who also hurt his ankle.
