OPINION:
I was disappointed to find news on the “Restoring Honor” rally on the bottom of Page 3 of Monday’s edition of The Washington Times (“Mall rally sends message of anti-Washington unrest”).
When half a million or more Americans gather on the Mall, I think it is worthy of front-page coverage. The event was stellar; I can’t say enough about how inspirational it was. Modern-day prophet Glenn Beck - wearing a bulletproof vest - espoused the beliefs and principles that have made this country great.
Each speaker professed a return to faith in God, hope for humanity and charity toward our fellow human beings. The people I met on the Metro and Mall were lovely folks from all over the country. It was such a pleasant place to be, and there was not one ugly word said, nor one disrespectful sign waved - with one exception: A huge banner held by those who were opposed to this wonderfully uplifting event read, “Martin Luther King - The Dream, Glenn Beck - The nightmare.”
Mr. Beck is only a nightmare to those who irrationally fear him. God bless him.
