CINCINNATI (AP) - Rookie Mike Leake went on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a tired right shoulder, but the Cincinnati Reds expect him back before the end of the season.

The 22-year-old pitcher made the jump directly from Arizona State to the majors, winning the final spot in the rotation during spring training. He was among the NL’s top rookie pitchers, going 8-4 with a 4.23 ERA in 22 starts and two relief appearances.

The Reds called up utility player Juan Francisco from Triple-A Louisville. Francisco is in his third stint with the Reds.

Manager Dusty Baker said right-hander Aaron Harang could start next Tuesday. Harang has been on the DL since July 6 because of back spasms.
