MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Torii Hunter grew up in the Minnesota Twins organization and spent years playing in the shabby Metrodome for a cost-conscious ballclub.

He made no bones about his disdain for the Dome and was a big part of the reason the Twins eventually got approval for a new outdoor ballpark.

Hunter arrived in Minnesota with the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night and got his first glimpse of Target Field. He proudly proclaimed “this is better than Yankee Stadium” and marveled at how far the organization has come since he left for a $96 million deal with the Angels in 2008.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire gave Hunter a tour of the place before the series opener and Hunter says it almost brought tears to his eyes.
