BOSTON (AP) - Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia is back on the 15-day disabled list because of soreness in his left foot, which he broke in late June.
Pedroia was activated early this week and played two games. But he sat out Thursday with a sore foot and was placed on the DL on Friday. Boston called up infielder Yamaico Navarro from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Pedroia spent seven weeks recovering from a bone he broke when he fouled a ball off his foot on June 25 at San Francisco. He played in two minor league rehab games last weekend, showing no signs of problems.
However, he said that after Wednesday night’s game his foot hurt so much he could not fall asleep. He said he wasn’t sure if the latest setback would end his season.
