WASHINGTON (AP) — It’s a close race between D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty and his main challenger in the Democratic primary according to a new poll. The poll released Wednesday found 39 percent of voters surveyed favored challenger Vincent Gray while 36 percent favored Fenty. But the difference between the two candidates is less than the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points. The poll, conducted and paid for by Clarus Research Group, was done by telephone on Sunday and Monday. A total of 501 randomly selected D.C. Democratic voters were surveyed. The results are very close to Clarus results in November which found Gray leading Fenty 41 percent to 37 percent with the same margin of error.
