EDEN PRAIRIE, MINN. (AP) - It looks like Brett Favre is having some fun with his will-he-or-won’t-he drama.
Favre’s website posted a message Tuesday saying “stay tuned for breaking news from the Minnesota Vikings today on Brett Favre’s possible return.”
Citing an unidentified source, the Biloxi Sun-Herald reported later that Favre boarded an airplane in Mississippi headed to Minnesota with three of his closest friends on the team who were sent by the Vikings to convince the 40-year-old quarterback to return for a 20th NFL season.
The players - Ryan Longwell, Jared Allen and Steve Hutchinson - all were missing from practice Tuesday. But the team wouldn’t confirm the report.
Favre will turn 41 in October and has flirted with retirement for years. He threw 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions last season to help the Vikings reach the NFC title game.
