Want to learn a foreign language for free? If so, area libraries can be a good source of gratis undervisning (Swedish for free instruction).

For example, D.C. residents can download audio language programs onto their iPods, PCs, MP3 players or other audio players for free from the D.C. Public Library’s Web site.

Available languages range from Arabic to Vietnamese. All in all, instruction is available in 28 languages. Some of the most popular languages — such as French and Spanish — feature dozens of titles and levels of instruction; others — including Danish — feature a single title.

On that note, buona fortuna (Italian for “good luck”)!
