The heart of Washington’s running game and the core of Atlanta’s run defense have never faced each other.

With injured Pro Bowl tight end Chris Cooley out of the passing game, there’s even more pressure on Portis to take advantage of whatever holes the revamped offensive line can give him.

Lofton, a second-year player who starts at middle linebacker, is adept at filling those holes. He’s the NFL’s top tackler.
