Life’s on a budget, so why would Thanksgiving be any different? Don’t fret. Free on

line recipe sites such as Allrecipes.com and Epicurious. com offer many and varied recipes and ideas for serving up Thanksgiving on a budget.

Epicurious.com, for example, offers recipe ideas for “Thanksgiving for 8 under $80,” featuring butternut squash soup with cider cream; roast turkey with oranges, bay leaves, red onions and pan gravy; herbed bread stuffing; brussels sprouts hash with caramelized shallots; cloverleaf rolls; and, finally, pecan pumpkin pie.

All recipes are user-rated.

Speaking of all recipes, at Allrecipes.com (which receives more than 300 million annual visits worldwide), home cooks can share and swap recipe collections. For Thanksgiving, for example, more than 12.5 million home cooks are expected to visit the site, using 250 million pages of holiday-focused, user-generated food content.

The most-visited recipe type for Thanksgiving 2008 on the site was for sweet potatoes, which received more than 4 million views.

Maybe this year the most popular page will be one dedicated to Budgeting 101? Or perhaps, Lighten Up, a section dedicated to cutting the fat out of the feast?
