FRED DAVIS
The Redskins rookie tight end claimed he missed a minicamp practice because he overslept. If you believe that, I have some beachfront property in North Dakota for you.
RYAN ZIMMERMAN
All along, he said the offense would come. Guess he was right. The Nationals’ third baseman has raised his average (entering last night) from .217 to .251 in the last 17 days.
MICHAEL BEASLEY
The D.C.-area player who shined for Kansas State last season will head to Chicago or Miami. The Bulls have the top pick and must decide between B-Easy and Derrick Rose.
MICHAEL NYLANDER
I have to mention the Caps every week. The team has a logjam at center if it re-signs Brooks Laich and Sergei Fedorov. Flipping Nylander to acquire a defenseman isn’t the worst idea.
TERENCE NEWMAN
The Cowboys signed the cornerback to a six-year, $50 million extension Tuesday. That’s good news for Santana Moss. Newman hasn’t played that well the last few years.
TWT FIVE - MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND TV PICKS
1. Indianapolis 500 (Sunday, Chs. 7, 2). IMS has been Danica Patrick’s best track since she emerged on the scene. She starts in Row 2, but Dan Wheldon will win his second 500.
2. Stanley Cup Finals (Saturday and Monday, Versus). The Pittsburgh-Detroit matchup is intriguing on a lot of levels. Penguins in six games.
3. Coca Cola 600 (Sunday, Chs. 5, 45). The 600-miler is the longest on the Sprint Cup circuit, testing every driver and every piece of equipment. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will break his winless streak.
4. Brewers-Nationals (Friday-Monday). Heading into a West Coast trip — including a series at Arizona — the Nationals need to have a good weekend. The teams will split the four games.
5. NBA conference finals. Spurs-Lakers/Pistons-Celtics. Don’t care enough to make a prediction. The games are completely boring.
