AROUND THE WEB PICKING THE REDSKINS
We trolled the Web yesterday to see who among experts, journalists and other prognosticators from throughout the nation picked the Redskins to beat the Seahawks this afternoon. For the complete list, check out our Washington Redskins blog, Redskins 360.
Peter King on SI.com:
Here’s what I figure about Todd “House Money” Collins: He’s had four occasions now where he could have folded and showed us he’s a lifetime backup and that’s it. He’s 4-0 in those four games, an accurate (63.8 percent) and mistake-free (5-0 TD-to-interception differential) quarterback. … Washington 23-20.
MSNBC’s Jay Novacek (yes, that Jay Novacek):
With the Redskins so strong on defense, they will make the Seahawks one-dimensional. If they do that, they can put pressure on Matt Hasselbeck, and that will be the difference. Redskins 24-17.
CBSSports.com’s Pete Prisco:
The Redskins appear to be on a roll. They’ve won four consecutive games and they have the look of one of those “charmed” teams. Redskins 20-17.
Dr. Z at SI.com:
I keep having strange feelings about Matt Hasselbeck, after seeing him go through erratic streaks when the stakes were raised. I think he’ll get his points Saturday … I just think the Skins will get more of them. Washington 31-27.
Of course, a fair amount of folks picked the Seahawks.
Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News:
This will turn into a surprising shootout. I give the slight edge to Seattle because of home field and having a few more playmakers at wide receiver. Seahawks 27-24.
And then there was Bid Daddy Drew of Deadspin.com, who worked the reverse Redskins psychology with his pick:
Seahawks 31, Redskins 10. They lose by 21! It’s a sign from above!”
Something tells me Redskins fans will weigh in online on that last one.
