From combined dispatches

MEN

Navy 77, American 66

Greg Sprink had career highs of 36 points and four steals to give the Midshipmen (10-11, 3-3 Patriot) the win over the Eagles (11-10, 3-3) last night, their first at Bender Arena in 17 years.

With Navy trailing 42-40 early in the second half, Chris Harris hit a running jumper, then a 3-pointer to start a 12-2 run. Meanwhile, the Eagles went more than eight minutes with just one basket.

American cut Navy’s lead to 55-53 with just over seven minutes left on a bank shot inside by Travis Lay and Brian Gilmore’s fast-break layup off a steal. But Navy scored the next seven points, and American never came closer than five points after that.

Sprink surpassed 20 points for the seventh straight game. It’s the longest such streak for Navy since David Robinson had 13 straight in the 1986-87 season.

Gilmore scored 16 points, and Lay had 15 for AU.

Saint Joseph’s 61, GW 59

Pat Calathes scored 21 points, including the go-ahead basket late in the game, to give the Hawks (13-5, 5-1 A-10) a win over the struggling Colonials (5-11, 1-5) at Smith Center.

Rob Ferguson and Ahmad Nivins each had 15 points for Saint Joseph’s, which won its fourth straight.
