TEMPERATURE CHECK Cold: Jon Jansen Veteran Redskins tackle might be gone for a long time

Hot: Stephon Heyer Rookie from Maryland steps in for Jansen and does OK

Hot: Antwaan Randle El Finally, the game weve been waiting for

Lukewarm: Jason Campbell Throws a pair of picks, but gets the W

PLAYER OF THE GAME Clinton Portis Antwaan Randle El had the game of his life as a Redskin, but it was Portis who had more to prove. He did. Coming back from injuries and offseason surgery and well-aware of the critics in the seats, the running back gained nearly 100 yards, scored the Redskins only touchdown on a pretty 19-yard dash and ran hard on the overtime drive that led to the winning field goal.

PLAY OF THE GAME Quarter: Overtime, 12:25 remaining Score: Redskins 10, Dolphins 10 Situation: Redskins’ ball, third-and-7 on the Washington 43 The play: The Redskins needed a first down to keep the winning drive alive, and they got it when tight end Chris Cooley, held without a reception the entire game, caught a quick slant over the middle from quarterback Jason Campbell for 10 yards to the Miami 43. After four running plays, Shaun Suisham kicked a 39-yard field goal to end it.

UP NEXT Redskins vs. Philadelphia Eagles When: 8:30 p.m., Sept. 17 Where: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia TV/radio: ESPN, Channel 20; 92.7-FM, 94.3-FM, 100.3-FM, 730-AM Outlook: The Redskins were happy to escape with a 16-13 overtime victory at home against Miami, but the Eagles will be in a crabby mood following a 16-13 upset loss at Green Bay.

Returning from knee surgery, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb looked a bit shaky, completing just 15 of 33 passes for 184 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Brian Westbrook ran 20 times for 84 yards and caught six passes for another 46, good but not great totals.

The Philly defense stopped the Packers on the ground, but Green Bay cant run. The Redskins, with Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts, should have greater success. Packers quarterback Brett Favre was marginally-effective, throwing an interception and getting sacked four times.
