Things got off to an interesting start for Redskins coach Joe Gibbs today. Upon entering Raymond James Stadiums player/coach/media door, everybody — everybody — has to provide photo identification. That included Gibbs.

*Seen and Heard has a nickname for retired CNNer Bernard Shaw: The Left Winger. It has nothing to do with his political leanings. Wherever Dan Snyder goes before the game — on the bench, at the 50-yard line, in the end zone — ol Bernie is present on his left wing.

*Al Saunders wasnt joking when he said two hours before kickoff that the media were being fed like they were attending a banquet. Among the highlights: A custom pancake station, a carving station (roasted pork loin), an omelet station, parmesan garlic potato wedges and assorted ice cream novelties.

*Muscles was back running the game today. Ed Hochuli, the best referee in the NFL, worked his second Redskins game of the season (he also worked the Week 5 win over Detroit). When Muscles came onto the field 47 minutes before kickoff, several fans leaned over the railing for high-fives.

*Gary Shelton of the St. Petersburg Times wrote a great column about Doug Williams. It has been 20 years since Williams was Super Bowl MVP for the Redskins. My best stories are the ones with the little old ladies, Williams told Shelton. They will come up to you and say, Son, I dont know anything about football, but I want you to know I prayed for you that day. Those are the kinds of stories that hit home.
