SEEN AND HEARD AT RFK STADIUM
The Nationals held the Indians to one run on Friday, but it took seven pitchers to accomplish the feat.
Starter Micah Bowie allowed one run on five hits through 41/3 innings, while relievers Luis Ayala, Saul Rivera, Ray King, Jesus Colome, Jon Rauch and Chad Cordero combined to give up zero runs on three hits through 42/3 innings.
Manager Manny Acta believes he was just doing what was necessary in order to give his team its best chance to win.
“The game has changed,” he said. “I don’t have to wait for a guy to throw 100 pitches out there to take him out of the game. … It’s gone and you have to adjust to the times. We have cell phones now.”
DID YOU KNOW?
The last time these two franchises met was in 2002, when the Expos took two of three games from the Indians in Montreal. The last time Cleveland visited Washington, the Senators also took two of three games from the Indians in September 1971.
