Two D.C. United players were named to the U.S. national team roster for the Copa America, which kicks off Tuesday in Venezuela. Midfielder Ben Olsen and defender Bobby Boswell will make the trip to play in South America’s biggest tournament, which also is the world’s oldest international soccer event.

Both players will report to the U.S. team after United’s game at Real Salt Lake today.

Already without forward Jaime Moreno, who is with the Bolivian national team preparing for the Copa America, United now will be without three key starters for games against the Colorado Rapids on June 28 and the Kansas City Wizards on July 4.

“It’s a big stage and something I want to be a part of,” Boswell said. “It would be a step in the right direction for me individually and I want to be there.”
