SEEN AND HEARD AT RFK STADIUM

Fans in attendance last night may have noticed that the giant clock in center field was a bit off. Like almost an hour off. Why? Because the power went out throughout the stadium earlier in the afternoon, the result of a taxi smashing into some kind of power generator. For nearly an hour, the lights were out in the Nationals’ team offices and the scoreboards were dark inside the stadium. Fortunately, they resolved the problem around 5 p.m. before any fans were allowed in.

OVERHEARD

“I can tell you right now: When Shawn Hill comes back, whoever has his spot can throw three shutouts in a row and Shawn Hill is going to go back into the rotation.”

— Manager Manny Acta on possible competition for rotation spots once several starters return from injury
