SEEN AND HEARD AT ROGERS CENTRE IN TORONTO
With retractable roofs now common around the sporting world, people forget just how revolutionary Rogers Centre was when it opened in 1989 as Skydome. It was a technological wonder back then and ushered in a new era when rainouts were impossible.
Unfortunately, that was 18 years ago and this place is starting to show its age.
Friday was a beautiful day in Toronto. So why was that night’s game played indoors?
Because “technical difficulties” prevented the roof from being opened. Not the kind of problem expected these days.
Fortunately, they figured it out yesterday and managed to play in the sunshine.
