No. 9 — Tiger Woods’ 8:25 a.m. tee time and his first-round performance didn’t discourage fans from following him again.
“If it wasn’t for Tiger Woods, I wouldn’t even be here,” said Benjamin Philip Parker, 18, of Clarksburg, Md.
Said Woods: “Especially early in the morning, I never would have envisioned seeing this many people come out. I wouldn’t have gotten up that early to watch me play.”

No. 10, No. 11 — Some may have thought Woods should have broken his putters after his first-round performance. It looked like Woods” short-game woes would continue after missing birdie putts on both the 10th and 11th holes.

No. 13 — No one would say this decided the turnaround, but it was interesting Woods decided to drink both Powerade and Dasani Water. On Thursday, he drank only Dasani Water.

No. 4 — Woods’ caddie crumpled and disposed Woods’ water bottle into the trash. But George Hyder of Annandale saw the bottle as a souvenir item.
“I just picked it up,” he laughed.

No. 6 — Woods found the deep rough off the tee, but he used a flop shot to set up for bogey.
“I made that good save on 6 for bogey, and then I just tried to keep that positive momentum going,” Woods said.
On the drive, a fan collected one of Woods’ divots as a souvenir item.

No. 8 — After Woods’ drive, his caddie gave Joseph Kim, 19, of Bethesda the golfer’s tee. Kim said he has collected 80 tees from different players. He also collected tees from Peter Lonard and Davis Love III on Friday.

No. 9 — Woods made a 15-foot birdie, capping a 1-under 139 score in two rounds. It was also Woods’ third straight birdie.
“It always makes dinner taste a little bit better and always makes you feel as if your day ended correctly,” Woods said.
