How did you get started in real estate? I started with Shannon & Luchs, but not in sales. My first job in real estate was working with the commercial sales division as an administrative assistant to a dozen very aggressive, successful commercial salesmen.

Greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months: My proudest accomplishment was the celebration of my 50th anniversary of my arrival in America. I arrived March 17, 1957, from Edinburgh, Scotland, for what was supposed to be a year’s visit, and here I am 50 years later very happy about that momentous decision I made. America has been very good to me in every way.
What is your area of specialty? None
Most memorable house: I was the co-lister of the most magnificent home in Massachusetts Avenue Heights, which was listed for $20,000,000. The magnificent home of the late Herbert Haft was built in the 1980s in the true French chateau style. The building products used were the finest available, mostly imported. Marble and installers came from Italy, and all seven fireplaces were antique marble from France and England. Upon entering, one was awed by the details, plaster moldings, furnishings and astounding antiques.
Worst experience: I can’t say this is the worst, but it was the most painstaking in time and effort. It is a small commercial plot of land that is now under contract and due to settle this month. On the property is an old, abandoned home that will have to be razed. The property has been rezoned to commercial. More than 400 callers want to buy the house to renovate even although the sign clearly says “commercial.” I hope this continues to be my worst experience, and I will consider myself very fortunate.
Family: Three children, five grandchildren
Education: Elementary school and high school in Edinburgh, Scotland. A very proud moment growing up was dancing before the queen on the occasion of her coronation.
