L.L. busted — again

The troubled saga of Lindsay Lohan took another dangerous turn early yesterday when Santa Monica, Calif., police booked her on suspicion of drunken driving and cocaine possession after a frightened woman dialed 911 to report being chased by Miss Lohan’s sport utility vehicle, Associated Press reports.

Less than two weeks out of rehab, with another drunken-driving case pending, Miss Lohan had a blood alcohol level of between 0.12 and 0.13 percent when police found her about 1:30 a.m., Sgt. Shane Talbot said. Miss Lohan’s attorney, Blair Berk, said her client had relapsed and was again receiving medical care.

According to published reports, authorities received a 911 call from the mother of Miss Lohan’s former personal assistant, Officer Alex Padilla said. The assistant had just quit hours earlier, he said. The woman apparently didn’t realize it was Miss Lohan who was behind her, Officer Padilla said. Police said the woman drove her black Cadillac Escalade into the parking lot of Santa Monica’s Civic Auditorium, about a block away from the Santa Monica Police Department, followed by Miss Lohan, driving a Denali SUV. Authorities arrived and saw Miss Lohan and the woman in “heated debate,” Officer Padilla said.

After a sobriety test, the 21-year-old movie star was booked on suspicion of two misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license and two felony charges of possession of cocaine and transport of a narcotic, authorities said. During a pre-booking search, police found cocaine in one of Miss Lohan’s pants pockets, Officer Talbot said. She was released several hours later on $25,000 bail.

Last week, Miss Lohan turned herself in to Beverly Hills police to face charges of driving under the influence in connection with a Memorial Day weekend hit-and-run crash. A court date was scheduled in that case for Aug. 24.

Miss Lohan left Promises Malibu Alcohol and Drug Rehab Treatment Facility on July 13 after a stay of more than six weeks and voluntarily wore an alcohol-monitoring bracelet, publicist Leslie Sloane Zelnik said.

Duff snubs wee fans

There were tears in Texas last week after Hilary Duff reportedly rebuffed some young fans, the New York Daily News reports. The newspaper says Miss Duff, her sister, Haylie, and their parents were enjoying a quiet dinner in low-key Richmond, Texas, but when word got out that the famous singer was at Pier 36 Seafood and Oyster Bar, two 9-year-old girls arrived carrying posters and T-shirts and hoping for autographs.

“On their way out, the owner asked if Hilary would sign a menu for her daughter, and she did,” an unnamed source tells the Daily News. But when the youngsters approached, the source says, Miss Duff said, ” ’I don’t really get to spend a lot of time with my family; sorry’ ” and walked out the door.

“She made one of the little girls cry,” the source said.

Aww.

Miss Duff was traveling yesterday and could not be contacted, the Daily News said.

Mag: Sad Brit tells all

Britney Spears has spilled her story to OK! magazine.

In a statement to the celebrity news Web site TMZ.com, OK! Editor-in-Chief Sarah Ivens said the magazine had “spent a heartbreaking day with Britney Spears and witnessed first-hand an emotional cry for help that will leave you shocked and sad,” AP reports.

“This week, on newsstands Friday, the truth will be told,” Miss Ivens said.

The statement was posted yesterday on TMZ.com. A day earlier, TMZ said it had “learned that Miss Spears’ self-arranged photo shoot and interview with OK! Magazine was a complete disaster” and that her behavior during the interview was “nothing less than a meltdown.”

A publicist for OK! didn’t respond to e-mails seeking comment. AP was attempting to locate a representative for Miss Spears.

Earlier this month, the 25-year-old pop princess apologized for attacking a photographer’s car with an umbrella in February, saying she had been preparing to try out for a movie part at the time and had gotten carried away. The incident took place during the same period in which Miss Spears shaved her head, got new tattoos and was seen partying hard in Los Angeles clubs. A few weeks later, following her highly public forays into midnight carousing, Miss Spears checked in for a monthlong stay in rehab.

She filed for divorce from aspiring rapper Kevin Federline in November, just two months after giving birth to the couple’s second child, Jayden James. Their older son, Sean Preston, was born in September 2005.
