HE SAID WHAT?

We think we have here a rogue, isolated criminal here. I feel betrayed by what happened on behalf of the sport. — NBA commissioner David Stern on Tim Donaghy

HEADLINERS

David Stern

In discussing the NBA’s betting scandal yesterday, the commissioner looked more shaken than a James Bond martini.

Barry Bonds

His ex-mistress plans to appear in Playboy wearing nothing but the Clear.

Alexandre Vinokourov

The latest Tour De France rider to test positive for doping. And, darn, just when we were really getting interested in cycling again.

Michael Vick

Will appear in court tomorrow for his arraignment alongside his lawyer, Wade Blasingame. (No, not the ballplayer.)

New York Yankees

Outscored the Devil Rays 45-12 over the weekend. Gained no ground on the AL East-leading Red Sox.

TWT FIVE POTENTIAL STADIUM SITES FOR D.C. UNITED

1. Baltimore: A move here obviously would require a team name change. Too bad Baltimore United sounds like some sort of anti-violence organization.

2. Loudoun County: Don’t worry, VDOT will provide scoring updates as you sit in traffic on Route 7.

3. RFK Stadium site: We’d make a joke, but it actually sorta makes sense.

4. Philadelphia: The problem here is that Philadelphia fans are just too low-key when it comes to sports.

5. Poplar Point: Hard to believe, but the future of soccer at this site could be saved by one man: Marion Barry.
