SEEN AND HEARD AT RFK STADIUM
Barry Bonds’ home-run chase is just as big a deal in the Nationals’ clubhouse as it is in living rooms across America. A large group of players was watching the Giants-Cubs game yesterday afternoon when Bonds clubbed his second homer of the day (and 753rd of his career) into the Wrigley Field bleachers. The blast elicited a loud reaction from the Nationals, who obviously are aware they could wind up a part of history. The Nationals play in San Francisco on Aug. 6-9, and several pitchers already have said they don’t want to be the one to surrender Bonds’ record-breaking homer.
