SAN FRANCISCO What’s the only souvenir worth more than Barry Bonds’ 756th home run ball?

How about the perfect photo of the moment?

Dozens of photographers stationed themselves throughout the ballpark last night, hoping to snap the quintessential shot of the history-making blast. And because there’s only room for a handful of guys in the camera well next to the dugout, these guys have to get creative.

Last night, there was a bank of about 30 mounted Canons at field level, all pointed toward the plate and equipped with remote shutter clickers. Chances are next week’s Sports Illustrated cover will come from one of those.

BY THE NUMBERS

13-5 Record for the Nationals since July 18 when Felipe Lopez leads off. The shortstop was back atop the lineup after sitting out Monday’s game with an injured knee.
