Series breakdown: The Nationals land squarely in the middle of a record chase in their only trip to the Bay Area this season. Barry Bonds hit home run No. 755 off San Diego’s Clay Hensley on Saturday but remains mired in an extended slump, hitting .167 (10-for-60) with four homers since July 6. He doesn’t have much of a history against the Nationals’ current staff, going 2-for-27 with a homer in his career off Washington’s 12 active pitchers. The lone shot came off southpaw reliever Ray King, who generally has tamed Bonds (1-for-16, home run and two walks) in their encounters through the years.
