Cruise set mishap
Eleven extras were injured when they fell out of a truck while filming a movie starring Tom Cruise, police said yesterday.
According to Associated Press, the 11 were taken to a hospital as filming stopped on the movie, provisionally titled “Valkyrie.” It stars Mr. Cruise as Germany’s most famous anti-Hitler plotter, Col. Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg.
All but one of the 11 were treated and released, AP said. The extent of the 11th man’s injuries from Sunday’s accident was not clear. Another person who fell out of the truck was unhurt. Germany’s Bild daily reported that Mr. Cruise was not involved in the weekend filming.
Police said a bolt on a side panel of the truck apparently came loose as the vehicle turned. The accident happened during the filming of scenes around the Finance Ministry in Berlin, which was once the Nazis’ aviation ministry.

The two-time Oscar winner first turned 64 on Friday in Melbourne, Australia, where he attended the grand opening of his latest Nobu restaurant. Then he caught a private jet over the international dateline and had another birthday Friday in Hawaii.
While many his age are thinking about retirement, the Hollywood star seems as busy as ever with his movie career and Japanese restaurant chain.
“I have time,” said Mr. DeNiro, whose latest film, ’Stardust,” opened Aug. 10.
Nobu Waikiki, located in the Waikiki Parc Hotel, and Nobu Melbourne are his 18th and 19th, respectively, in the chain, with additional restaurants planned for San Diego and West Hollywood, Calif.
