SEEN AND HEARD AT RFK STADIUM

Shawn Hill would not have allowed a hit in six innings Tuesday night if not for a cheap single that fell between left fielder Ryan Church and center fielder Nook Logan.

It was only the latest in a string of miscues involving miscommunication between the two outfielders, something the Nationals are trying to correct.

Unfortunately for the Nationals, it’s difficult to simulate game-like conditions.

You can work on that in spring training as much as you want for 100 years, manager Manny Acta said. Once you get over 20,000 people screaming, I don’t think you can hear each other out there.

BY THE NUMBERS

4-15 Record for the Nationals on Tuesdays this season, by far their least-successful day of the week.

TONIGHT’S GAME

Phillies LHP Cole Hamels (13-5, 3.64) vs. Nationals RHP Joel Hanrahan (2-0, 2.76), 7:05 p.m., MASN, AM-1500, FM-107.7.
