SEEN AND HEARD AT CHASE FIELD

PHOENIX Shawn Hill’s return to the Nationals rotation is going to be delayed about a week. The right-hander allowed one run in a five-inning rehab start for Class AAA Columbus Thursday night that was supposed to be his last in the minors.

But club officials felt his secondary pitches (slider, change-up) still need to be crisper, so he’ll make one more start for Columbus on Tuesday. The Nationals remain committed to getting the right-hander back on the mound after three months on the disabled list.

“He’s a priority,” manager Manny Acta said. “I think everybody knows right now that he’s our number one guy, the way he pitched before he went down.”

OVERHEARD

“I’m holding up fine. It’s just not where I want it to be right now. So I’m just going day-by-day.”
