End of the story

A Los Angeles court has finalized the divorce between troubled pop star Britney Spears and Kevin Federline less than three years after they married, Associated Press reports.

Miss Spears and Mr. Federline will share custody of their two sons, 23-month-old Sean Preston and 11-month-old Jayden James, according to Miss Spears’ attorney, Laura Wasser.

“I think she’s OK with the terms,” Miss Wasser told reporters on Monday outside the Los Angeles court. “I think they were each hoping they would have more custody time, but hopefully that can be worked out.”

The financial details of the divorce remain secret, Miss Wasser said.

Miss Spears and Mr. Federline, a dancer and aspiring rapper, married on Oct. 6, 2004.

The pop princess, who for five years was the top-earning singer in the world until she was overtaken by Madonna, has made headlines for bizarre and erratic behavior ever since her split last year with Mr. Federline. She was photographed partying hard in Los Angeles and Las Vegas — often pantyless — and shaved her head in February shortly before entering a rehabilitation clinic.

Arrested ’Idol’

Corey Clark has been arrested in Arkansas on drug charges and an outstanding warrant from Arizona, AP says.

The former “American Idol” contestant was being held at the Pulaski County jail pending a court appearance Tuesday in North Little Rock, said John Rehrauer, a spokesman for the sheriff’s department.

Mr. Clark was arrested near Interstate 40 at about 2:30 a.m. Monday on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Mr. Rehrauer said.

A warrant had been issued for Mr. Clark after he failed to appear in an Arizona court on a summons stemming from an arrest last year for violating a court order and trespassing.

Mr. Clark was disqualified after reaching the finals of the popular Fox TV show in 2003 for failing to reveal a previous arrest.

He later accused “Idol” judge Paula Abdul of coaching him and initiating an affair. She denied his claims, and Fox cleared Miss Abdul of any wrongdoing.

Weighty matters

Star Jones Reynolds skirted questions about her dramatic weight loss for years, saying only that she had undergone a medical intervention. That intervention, it turns out, was gastric bypass surgery.

Miss Jones Reynolds, 45, says she was “intentionally evasive” when people asked how she had dropped 160 pounds in three years. She had gastric bypass surgery in August 2003.

She writes about her weight loss in a first-person essay in the September issue of Glamour magazine, due on newsstands Tuesday .

“I was scared of what people might think of me,” she writes. “I was afraid to be vulnerable and ashamed at not being able to get myself under control without this procedure.”

Keeping her decision private made her a hypocrite, she adds, because she had been so outspoken about her firing as co-host of ABC’s “The View” last year.

Miss Jones Reynolds, a graduate of American University’s Washington College of Law —who weighed 307 pounds at her heaviest — says her “out-of-control behavior” began around her 40th birthday in 2002. Feeling lonely, she turned to food for comfort and gained 75 pounds over the course of 17 months.

“I used to look in the mirror and take pride in my figure, but that was when I was legitimately a full-figured woman,” she says. “I’d gradually gone from full-figured to morbidly obese.”

Surgery for Roberts

ABC “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will be undergoing surgery Friday, AP reports.

She told viewers about her cancer on yesterday’s show.

Miss Roberts, 46, said she examined herself and found a lump on her breast the same day she had done a report on former “GMA” movie critic Joel Siegel, who died of colon cancer last month.

The network wouldn’t say which breast was affected.
