SEEN AND HEARD AT RFK STADIUM

Apparently, the Nationals are tinkering with a banner celebrating the countdown to the final game at RFK Stadium on Sept. 23.

Four hours before last night”s game, the No. 26 (and later 25) was unfurled on a wall in foul territory down the left-field line, along with a logo commemorating RFK”s history from 1962 to 2007. Washington has 27 games remaining at RFK before moving into a new ballpark in Southeast along the Anacostia next spring.

QUOTABLE

“They have a couple plans, but that’s all got to go through Jim [Bowden]. He’s been busy the last past couple days.”

— Nationals pitcher Shawn Hill, who didn’t know his rehabilitation start Saturday night will be for Class A Potomac
