AAMU is a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. Fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, as well as other specialty, regional and national accrediting bodies, AAMU’s academic programs have been recognized by U.S. News and World Report, Diverse Issues in Higher Education, and the Washington Monthly. Each year, several students achieve regional and national honors in their respective disciplines. AAMU researchers are using conceptual modeling and innovation to come up with improvements aimed at better nuclear detection for homeland security uses. A $360,000 grant from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has helped extend and secure additional research support from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Homeland Security.
