A Somerville, Massachusetts, youth hockey team was rescued earlier this week after a boat they were on ran aground on Rainsford Island in Boston Harbor.
At around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, the boat ran aground onto the island, Massachusetts State Police told Boston.com. There were at least 20 people on board.
The boat involved, the La Bella Vita, had its hull ripped open by rocks, according to independent Boston TV station WHDH-TV. Both the Boston Police Department and state police responded and were able to get everyone from the hockey team back to the mainland.
One adult woman went to the hospital for a shoulder injury, Boston EMS told WHDH-TV. There were no serious injuries, the Massachusetts Environmental Police told Boston NBC affiliate WBTS-TV.
As for the boat, it was low tide at the time it ran aground, but the company that tried to retrieve the vessel, Sea Tow, was unable to bring it back. By Thursday, much of it was submerged underwater, the company told WHDH-TV.
