I am disgusted by the arrogant congresspeople — many of whom refer to themselves as Democratic “radicals” — gleefully responding to massive job losses and economic dislocation by urging Americans to demand that the economic shutdown continue.

I have a capital idea for them: Why don’t they unilaterally agree to furlough their pay in order to demonstrate their solidarity with those experiencing economic pain until the government figures a way out of the mess it created? Yeah, right. Hypocrites will be hypocrites.

Congress members aren’t “essential” to the economic functioning of the private sector — unless, or course, one considers creating staggering debt, making empty promises and doing cynical posturing an honest day’s work.
