MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - An investigator says authorities do not know if a missing woman from Tennessee is still alive as the search for her presses on.
Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Chief Inspector Chris Harris told reporters Friday that a person of interest has been identified in the case of Taquila Hayes. The 41-year-old Hayes has not been seen since May, but she was not reported missing until August.
Harris did not name the person of interest. The chief inspector says investigators have no information that Hayes is in the area, and it’s not known if she is alive.
Authorities have intensified the search for Hayes. Deputies recently combed the area near the Cordova home she lived in with her husband and son.
Harris said authorities are studying evidence recovered in the case.
