Officer slashed in head while responding to domestic dispute

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A Rochester police officer has suffered a knife wound to the head while responding to a domestic dispute.

The Democrat and Chronicle reports that the officer was attacked at a home in northeast Rochester early Friday afternoon.

Deputy Police Chief Mark Mura says bystanders helped subdue the man who attacked the officer. He says police used a stun gun on the man.

The wounded officer was taken to Rochester General Hospital. Police say his wounds are not life-threatening.

Mura says the officer fired one shot during the struggle with his attacker but no one was struck.

The accused attacker was arrested at the scene. Neither his name nor the injured officer’s was immediately released.
