CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A former employee at a warehouse business in South Carolina is pleading guilty to taking more than $530,000 from the company over five years.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that Jennifer S. Godin worked for Trans-Hold of North Charleston, which stores cargo containers and provides logistical services for shippers.
A court document filed in Charleston by U.S. Attorney Sherri Lydon says Godin set up false billing invoices for late fees and had the money forwarded to her between 2010 and 2015.
Lydon says the payments totaled about $532,000.
She waived her right to an indictment and arraignment. Godin faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when she is sentenced later. She has agreed to forfeit any assets obtained with embezzled funds and make restitution.
