Even with all of his career accomplishments, Wayne Rooney managed to add a new one to the list with his first selection to the Major League Soccer All-Star Game.

In 2019, Rooney leads United with eight goals, tied for the fourth-most of any player in the league. He also has five assists and is a perfect 3-for-3 on penalty kicks attempted.

Despite United being tied for second in the Eastern Conference, Rooney was the only Black-and-Red player selected to the 26-man roster. He was picked as part of the “MLS All-Star Fan XI” phase of voting.

Rooney has played for D.C. United for close to a year now after joining the club on a transfer last July.

The MLS All-Stars will play Spanish power Atlético Madrid on July 31 in Orlando, Florida.
