CUMMING, Ga. (AP) - Police say a Georgia woman shot her boyfriend while he was sleeping, hours after being served a restraining order to stay away from him.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that 46-year-old Melanie Greene is charged with assault, stalking and violating a restraining order for shooting the unidentified man in the arm on Monday.

Earlier that day, investigators say Greene had been placed under a temporary protective order that banned her from returning to her boyfriend’s house. Police say she showed up anyway, shot through his bedroom doors, entered the home and then chased him out of it.

Greene later surrendered to authorities. She remains in jail without bond, and it is unclear whether she has an attorney who can comment on her behalf.
