GLASGOW, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a drunken driver crashed into a state trooper’s parked cruiser and seriously wounded the trooper’s K-9.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports the 36-year-old driver, of Glassboro, New Jersey, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the Saturday crash in Glasgow. Authorities didn’t immediately release her identity. Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe says the trooper stopped along a highway Saturday night to assist a disabled car.

She says the trooper and the driver of the disabled car were not in their vehicles when the woman drove an unregistered vehicle into the trooper’s cruiser, forcing it into the disabled car. The trooper’s K-9 named Tomi was badly injured and hospitalized. Tomi’s injuries were considered serious but non-life-threatening as of Sunday.

The woman was charged with offenses including driving under the influence.
